Contacts

A contact is a person EmailByScott can email — a subscriber. Contacts are shared across your apps, so the same person isn't duplicated everywhere.

Subscriptions and consent

Contacts subscribe to subscription types (newsletter, product updates, etc.) individually, so consent is granular: someone can take your newsletter but not your announcements. EmailByScott honors these per-type choices when sending marketing email. (Transactional email of a type marked to bypass unsubscribe — like a password reset — still goes through; see Admin.)

Tags

Attach tags to contacts to group them — by interest, source, or anything useful — and target sends accordingly.

Linking to your apps

A contact can carry external IDs that tie it back to the member and account in the originating app, so an app can look a contact up by its own internal IDs.

Managing the list

Contacts can be created and updated from the console or via the API, and the list supports import and export. Subscribe and unsubscribe actions are available manually and through recipient-facing one-click links.
